Madison Church meets at 10:30 every Sunday morning to worship God. Our Church building is located away from everything, in a physical setting that could be described as isolated and lonely - BUT the inside of our Church building on Sunday mornings is the complete opposite of that! We average over 100 people on Sundays, and these people come from all over Poweshiek county. We have visitors all the time and we haven’t eaten any of them yet! You won’t stick out, or catch any sideways glances, but you’re almost sure to run into someone that you know and encounter a whole host of people that want to shake your hand and learn your name. Come and join us for worship on a Sunday morning to see, hear, and feel what makes Madison Church so special!
What to Expect
Our Worship service lasts about one hour. It is a time full of worship songs (both contemporary and traditional), prayer, and teaching/reflection on God’s Word. It is a casual setting with no dress code. You won’t be called upon to introduce yourself or speak. You’re welcome to whisper to your neighbor in the pew, have your phone out (especially if you’re using it to look at the Bible passage we’re discussing), doodle on your bulletin, and you’re highly encouraged to laugh exuberantly at the preacher’s jokes.
Communion
At the center of every Madison Church worship service is a participation in the Lord’s Supper (communion). Jesus commanded His disciples to partake of bread and wine in remembrance of His body and blood which was shed for us on the Cross. The Church began observing this command on Sunday mornings in celebration of Christ’s resurrection right from it’s inception. Madison Church carries on this apostolic practice by passing unleavened bread and grape juice every Sunday. This moment in our worship service is full of prayer and reflection. We invite anyone who has Jesus Christ as Lord to partake in communion with us at Madison Church.
Kids
Madison Church is FULL of kids right now. They are the pride and joy of our congregation. We at Madison believe that having our children with us in the Church service is good for them, and we pray that they grow to love and enjoy Sunday morning worship for the rest of their lives. Kids can be noisy, busy, angry, and hilarious in the sanctuary during worship and we LOVE it at Madison - some of our favorite moments as a Church have been when a child decides to speak out or wander up during worship.
Nursery - We have a nursery available for babies and toddlers every Sunday during the whole worship service that is staffed by Madison Church volunteers.
KIDS Zone - Every second Sunday of the month we put on a special, made-for-kids, Bible lesson in the Church basement during the sermon (~age 5 to 6th grade). They have a great time learning about God’s word together down there and we’ve found it can be a relaxing break for the parents who get to stay upstairs.
